As part of our second coursework project for my two-year Music Performance course, my college band — Band D — performed at the Miskin Theatre’s “Flashback Friday” event.
This gig was all about celebrating the energy and attitude of Britpop, so we covered some absolute classics: “Acquiesce” by Oasis, “Ready to Go” by Republica, “Charmless Man” by Blur, and “The Bends” by Radiohead.
It was such a fun set to play — full of upbeat riffs, catchy choruses, and that unmistakable 90s confidence. Each song had its own personality, and as a guitarist, I loved switching between those gritty, overdriven tones and the more melodic parts that define the Britpop sound.
Performing at the Miskin Theatre always feels special — the lights, the crowd, and that buzz right before we start playing. This show really reminded me why I love live performance so much: the teamwork, the energy, and the thrill of seeing people enjoy what we’ve worked hard to create.
🎸 And yes — that’s me on the right his time!
